The author's new career motto is "do what's interesting." This is in contrast to his previous motto, "do whatever it takes to be a director in the theatre no matter how crappy it is." : a comfortable combination of Southern Italian immigrant families resembling his own Southern Italian immigrant family in Boston; University of Chicago alumni (at least one of whom was the author's roommate at The University of Chicago), and other people who either don't have cars or can somehow manage to stay home and move their cars on alternate side parking days i.e. people who don't "go" to work.
